The fish is one of several very similar species including </span><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemigrammus_bleheri" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(6, 69, 173);"><em>Hemigrammus bleheri</em></a><span style="color: rgb(32, 33, 34);">, and </span><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petitella_georgiae" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(6, 69, 173);"><em>Petitella georgiae</em></a><span style="color: rgb(32, 33, 34);">, and it is possible that more recently collected specimens available in the aquarium trade are members of one or other of these similar species.
